If the weather is forecasting rain- Your fields may not be playable. This is how game cancellations are handled & what YOU need to do!
This is an all hands on deck procedure. With more than 1,200 players & parents moving around the state and numerous referees, getting this info out quickly and numerous times will assure no one travels to the fields to find it empty!
IF A YOUR FIELDS ARE UNPLAYABLE / YOUR PROGRAM CANCELS GAMES (this is NOT a RIYLL League Wide cancellation. PROGRAM DIRECTORS/ HOME TEAMS MUST DO THE FOLLOWING IF YOUR FIELDS ARE CLOSED (IF YOU CANCEL)
FIRST NOTIFY Deb Isdale and Dee Walton
- Make your decision by 6:30am for your first game (People might be driving long distances).
- Send BOTH text & email to be safe!
- TEXT: 203-249-9783 (Deb Isdale) . Deb is the person who makes the updates,

- Make sure you distinguish if you are canceling just the FIRST game or ALL your games.
SECOND: NOTIFY ONLY YOUR COACHES PLAYING AT HOME. Do not contact the away teams b/c those away team fields might still be open.
THIRD: HOME TEAM COACH NOTIFY OPPOSING COACH TELL your coaches they need to do this! Get their info ready tonight so you are scrambling in the dark to find this info.
FOURTH: All coaches HOME & AWAY should put a post on their team home page that game is cancelled. Just in case text messages or emails hit spam folders. Remind parents to check team webpage and/or website home page regularly.
NOTE: It may take as long as 15 minutes or longer to get the alert out. Refs get notified FIRST then system is updated and alerts go out. By having your coached reach out to the opposing coach it helps save parents the hassles!

This coupled with the alerts your coach has sent ensures coaches, players & parents get double notifications!

NOTIFY PROGRAM BOARD MEMBERS: Using the master distribution list of board members (version 7 to those keeping track) to spread the word.
PROGRAMS POST ON THEIR HOME PAGE: You then post a notice on your home page ( and select the option to put it on every team webpage) that all games are cancelled. Remind your parents to check the website. TEST MESSAGES and EMAILS can sometimes get delayed if a lot of cancellations are happening at once.
If cancelations are coming in fast & furious, we may ask you to contact the referee's for your game. Contact info & referee list will be sent on Friday night.
